An Update on Coastal Construction Products and Beacon Waterproofing

posted in: Coastal News | 0

On November 1, 2022, Coastal Construction Products became part of Beacon Building Products and much has happened since that time. I want to provide you with a short update on where we’ve been and a bit about what we are planning for the rest of the year.

In Q1 We Acclimated – and Grew!

On January 1, just as we were getting acclimated to Beacon, we announced the acquisition of Whitney Building Products in Boston, another Division 7 distributor joining this family. Whitney, Coastal and the West Coast Beacon Waterproofing branches, form the Beacon Waterproofing Division.  We’re focused on providing you with specialty construction materials, expert technical support and strong business partnerships.

During this quarter we developed our organizational structure for the Division and announced our Divisional Leadership in March. Alex Miranda is a familiar face from South Florida and he will now serve as our Sales Director for the East Region.  The West Region Sales Director is Steve Artz from Northern California.

In Q2 We Focused on Florida

In May, Beacon’s Florida Waterproofing sales team merged with Coastal. This change allowed both groups to come together to serve all of our loyal customers.  They’ve shared ideas and resources and provided customers with the best possible support for their projects.  I like the teamwork I’m seeing.

We also opened up two Waterproofing branches in the Largo area of Clearwater and in North Orlando. These are co-located within existing Beacon Roofing branches.

In Q3 We Focused on Technology

This summer has been extremely busy.  We were “all hands on deck” preparing for Coastal’s conversion to Beacon’s ERP system earlier this month. This brings us together as a Division and helps us deliver better customer service.  We also transitioned to other Beacon software systems that improve our internal communications and help us better support our customers.

What’s Next?

Our Waterproofing Division now has 33 branches nationally and is the largest waterproofing distribution platform in the country. We look forward to expanding our footprint and providing Coastal’s brand of outstanding service and technical support to new customers in other parts of the US.

Technical Training:  Providing technical training and resources to both employees and customers will continue to be an important part of our future. To help us execute this initiative, we were happy to announce that Dave Fuller joined our team as the new Director of Technical Training. Dave brings a wealth of experience in technical training and adult education.

In the coming months he will be rolling out revamped training programs as well as a long-term road map for waterproofing training programs and resources.

Building Our Bench: We are building our bench strength with our first group of Waterproofing Division employees in Beacon’s Leadership Training and Rising Stars Programs. These programs provide development opportunities for talented individuals who will strengthen our team.

Maintain and Build Our Foundation: Great teams thrive in great cultures. One thing I am particularly proud of at Coastal is our culture. We spent a lot of time developing what we called Our Foundation, a defined set of cultural values. Beacon has strong core values too and Coastal’s Foundation meshes perfectly.

This foundation is how we always stay focused on our customers, providing value to them in the way of technical expertise and inventory availability.

In Closing

I believe that Coastal has always had something special with our focus on our customers, our employees and our manufacturer partners.  This is now part of the DNA of the Beacon Waterproofing Division and we hope that you experience this in every interaction with our team. Thank you for trusting us with your business.
